NCG's training was becoming difficult due to the Internal SME’s/Leads hectic schedules. Without formal and structured training, new members were having a hard time getting up to speed. This was causing a backlog and leading to delays in projects.
We continue to hire a large number of New College Grads in our organization from several Tier-1 colleges across all of India. Transitioning them from campus to industry, training them on VLSI flows, and getting them to productive levels where they can contribute to critical projects in the shortest possible time has been a challenge, due to the restricted bandwidth of our internal tech leads and a lack of a uniform training program across teams. Our collaboration with Maven Silicon on the New college grad training program provided us the flexibility to customize their pre-curated VLSI curriculum. It helped us scale and their online mode of delivery helped us maintain a balance between in-house project-specific training and the general VLSI curriculum. This helped us reduce the time to project readiness of the young engineers and get them deployed on critical project tasks faster and productively. Their trainers are very knowledgeable, experienced, and student-friendly. I look forward to furthering collaboration with Maven for our future training needs.

Problem Statement
Our Solution
To achieve this objective, a co-curated curriculum was developed between the client and Maven Silicon. The delivery was structured in a blended mode, where pre-recorded videos were provided along with 3 days of trainer's connect per week. The focus was on hands-on practice, with 70% of the training time dedicated to practical work and close monitoring through attendance and performance reports at intervals. To enhance the learning experience, projects were made more complex, allowing trainees to better understand the actual work. A 360-degree performance report was provided for each trainee to inform business decision-making by the client. A co-created curriculum was established between the client and Maven Silicon, utilizing a blended mode of delivery that included both pre-recorded sessions and weekly trainer connections. Each learner was provided with a structured day planner to follow, ensuring a consistent and organized learning experience. Regular assessments, mentor support, individual lab reviews, and project source code evaluations were conducted to track progress and enhance understanding. Assistance with project implementation and access to reference materials were also provided for seamless execution and learning. Finally, 360-degree performance reports were generated for each trainee to inform and support business decision-making.
The Outcome
Following the implementation of the tailored training and development program, the productivity of internal leads and managers increased by 15-20% in relation to their assigned projects. Additionally, the time required for new engineers to be onboarded and assigned to projects decreased by 20% due to improved skill fitment.
The results demonstrate that a well-designed program, tailored to the specific needs of a business and its workforce, can lead to substantial improvements in performance and results.
